Please note this is not the full license agreement, it is merely a short and simple summery to highlight the important points of each term in less words.
Grant of License - Who & Where
You can install the fonts on as many computers as you have licenses for.
This is a single site license, so all computers need to be in the same location.
You can also install the same fonts on your laptop for out of office or after hours work.
Embedding (For Basic & Pro Fonts)
You can use the fonts in images.
You can embed the fonts into PDFs for internal documents or to send files to printers or people reproducing your work. The PDFs must have the fonts subsetted and be locked and uneditable.
You can embed into Flash. The fonts should be subsetted, the Flash files must be "static" and not "dynamic" – text must not be editable or copyable by 3rd parties, and please provide any reasonable protecting available to the Flash files to help deter font extraction.
Using our fonts in CSS with @font-face is not allowed.
For any other embedding, please contact us first.
Embedding the fonts into commercial products is covered under a different (OEM) license. You can not make products from the fonts with this license. This primarily includes things such as alphabet stamps or stickers, but also includes embedding into electonic media likes e-book or video games.
Other licenses are available; again, please contact.
Please Help Protect Our Fonts
Fonts may be sent to printers for outputting your work if necessary, but they may not "use" the fonts for editing or changing your documents.
WEB Fonts
The Web Fonts are licensed on a per-domain basis. Additional domains can be purchased at any time for a small fee.
You may transfer the WEB Fonts to anyone who needs them while working on the domain the fonts are licensed for. This means other internal or external designers or programmers for the project.
Once the website is completed you may also transfer the WEB Fonts to the client/site owner so they can update and maintain their website.
You can embed WEB Fonts into PDFs and distribute them to the public – for all non-commercial uses. Commercial use, such as for a paid E-Book, is covered under a different license.
You can embed WEB Fonts into Flash.
You can use @font-face.
You can use sIFR, Cufón, and Typeface.js.
All online embedding must be “static” and not modifiable by the user, i.e. not interactive or usable by the website guest.
Modifying the Fonts
You may modify the fonts such as converting the format or adding missing characters for personal and internal use. Any modified versions are still owned by Mota Italic and bound by the same terms as the original, however they can no longer be supported or guaranteed by Mota Italic.
We are happy to customize fonts for you, and our modified fonts come with a warranty!
You may not make derivative fonts based on any part of our fonts.
Backup Copies
You can make backups.
You can re-download your purchases – including the latest versions of the typefaces – at any time through your account page.
Transferring of License
You may not transfer or give away your license for the “Regular” fonts.
However, the WEB Fonts are different:
You license the WEB Fonts on a per-domain project. You can transfer these fonts to people who are directly working the same-domain project – they are granted a temporary and limited use license for working on that domain.
Once the project is completed, you may also transfer the WEB Fonts to the domain or website owner so they can make changes and continue to use them on their licensed domain.
