The cost of licensing our fonts varies per family and depends on your usage and the number of workstations that you are installing them on.

The standard price listed is for one computer/user - please refer to our End User License Agreement (EULA) for full explanations.

Our pricing for multiple workstations is as follows:

When you need to install the fonts on more than one computers than you originally licensed then you may simply upgrade your number of licenses – which we allow at any time. You only pay the difference from the old number of licenses to the new.

All prices refer to the standard usage explained in our EULA. Should you need extended usage rights not covered, please contact us for further details.

Our fonts are all delivered digitally: by download or via email. Please let us know if you need your font order be delivered on a CD or other means.

Always.

Your purchase history is stored in your personal My Account area. We offer lifetime re-downloads of your fonts there. Also, sometimes we make small changes like adding some kerning, adjusting an outline here or there, or extending the glyphs or language support. You are able to keep up to date and grab the latest and greatest version through your account.

Our automated versioning system is not fully functional at this time, so incase you need an older version of a font just drop us a line and we can hook you up!

We currently accept Euros as the standard currency. Conversion from other currencies should be possible through the various payment methods, although this may incur additional fees.

Our fonts are of the highest quality made with a great attention to detail and love. A text typeface like Vesper is drawn and refined over the course of several years. Our fonts are printed and tested hundreds of times to help us perfect them for use in most sizes and printing techniques. We use the latest technology in font production and ensure the greatest possible forwards and backwards compatibility (our fonts even contain extra, future-looking, OpenType features that are not yet accessible by current applications).

In short, we strive to give you what you pay for. With free fonts you will often a variety of poor outlines, no-existing/incomplete/bad kerning & spacing, limited character sets, 'unoriginal' designs, software crashing... but hey, they are still free. With our fonts we make unique designs that are full of features, support many languages and provide for numerous typographic requirements. On top of that, we also provide personalized technical support and warranty for our fonts.

Our WEB Fonts are a special package helping to deliver our unique designs to the internet. They consist of several components bundled together to give you many usage options. The package currently contains fonts for both online and offline use.

For offline use you receive a standard Basic version of the font. This can be used for any normal project as covered by the standard EULA.

For online use, a special collection of TTF fonts are also provided. These can be accessed through the CSS definition @font-face. These fonts are subdivided versions of the Basic font, therefor you maintain full language support capabilities. And since the fonts are subset into multiple files, you can load just the fonts with the characters you require - making for quicker download times. It is also possible with our WEB Fonts for you to choose old-styled or lining numbers!

We will soon also be shipping WOFF and EOT Lite files along side the TTF WEB Fonts. This will save you from having to convert the files yourself, but according to our EULA, you allowed to convert them to these formats now if you wish.

Don’t worry, these updates will be for free to all existing WEB Font customers as soon as they are available.

The short answer is maybe.

This always depends on the license of the particular font and your specific situation. In many cases we should be able to work with you and help make the changes to provide you with the perfect font. Give us a call or send an e-mail to let us know what you need.

Our time is always divided between a variety of projects. These will usually include: creating new retail typefaces, developing custom designs for clients, providing customer support, or updating our websites.

Aside from these areas, we also provide typographic consulting and assist other type designers with their work. This may include adding new characters (such as extending language or script support), writing OpenType features, repairing broken fonts, assisting with diacritics, improving spacing and kerning, and PostScript and TrueType hinting. We are also experienced with VOLT programming for complex scripts such as Devanagari, Arabic, and Hebrew.

With Apple FontBook:

Simply double click the font file. In the window that pops up, select the install button. Done!

Manual Installation:

Copy your fonts into the fonts folder located under: User -> Library -> Fonts. Once you restart any running applications, your fonts should then be available in the fonts menu.

Other Font Managers:

For any other font management application, please refer to its specific instructions.

Drag and drop your files into Control Panel -> Fonts. On XP and Vista you might need to switch to "classic view" in your control panel to see the fonts folder.

We offer OpenType fonts only. Our OpenType fonts are TrueType flavoured and therefore have the file extension TTF.

We do not provide for the outdated PostScript and TrueType fonts - these do not fit with our design philosophies or modern typographic needs. OpenType is the new standard and should be appropriate for nearly all users. Incase you have the need for a different format just let us know and we can discuss the options with you.

The OpenType format is no longer a new technology. It was developed jointly between Microsoft and Adobe and it was announced in 1996. It is a cross-platform format, can contain thousands of glyphs (technically over a million)(instead of the 255 per font in the old formats) and can house sophisticated code inside for advanced typographic layouts. Elements such as ligatures, small caps, and a numerous varieties of numbers can all be automatically typeset from the same font, instead of several separate and confusing old TrueType or Type 1 PostScript files.

OpenType fonts are widely supported on Apple OS X and on PCs since Windows 2000. Most applications support OT fonts now, some major ones include: all Adobe CS products, QuarkXPress 7 or newer, Word 2003/2004 and newer.

Most users will not notice a difference between OTF and TTF OpenType fonts, however, there are a few advantages to TTFs:

Thanks to its .TTF extension, TTF-OpenTypes are recognized by all applications that support OpenType or TrueType. This way, even very old non-OpenType-savvy applications will give you standard TrueType support for our fonts. In all OpenType-savvy applications our fonts should run flawlessly.

TrueType-flavoured OpenType fonts will give you better results in Office applications and perform equally or better than OTF fonts in your design programs. TrueType is capable of containing finer hinting settings, which mean better onscreen rendering of text than of .OTF fonts.

Additionally, we are dedicated to producing a variety of fonts which include non-Latin scripts like Cyrillic, Greek, Devanagari and others. Many complex scripts require .TTF files for the OpenType code tables. The TrueType format simply provides more, and better, options for developing and using the fonts.

Our fonts are linked and grouped as a set. This means that they should all be listed under the one family name.

If you are on Windows and you have the whole family installed, you may only see the regular weight in the font menu. You can switch weights or styles by using the buttons for bold and italic.

Please clean your Adobe font caches. On Windows, search for adobe*.lst files and then delete those. On Mac OS X, try using a cache management tool to clear the cache.

Mota Italic produces cross-platform OpenType fonts only to ensure the best results and fewest problems. As long as your applications and files themselves are compatible, the fonts should be no problem.

Yes, all of our fonts are Unicode-encoded OpenType fonts. Unicode ensure cross-platform compatibility and supports most of the world’s writing systems.

Properly encoded OpenType fonts should generally be compatible among each other - there can be errors when advanced stylistic of layout features are involved. For ‘normal’ text though, you should encounter now problems converting between fonts.

Older TrueType and PostScript fonts can usually be interchanged for many Western European languages. However these can vary depending on the specific encoding of your old font data. Should you need to match an old encoding with a new font, please contact us to discuss the details.
